Swale’s First Ever Youth Conference Was Amazing
So I may be slightly biased but Swale Youth Conference 2017 was an amazing event.
After months of planning, we finally gathered once again at Kent Science Park to learn about the real issues affecting young people today. We welcomed over 70 guests from organisations including Swale Borough Council, Kent County Council, Amicus Horizon, Young Kent, CXK, Swale CVS and much more!
Speakers included the MP for Sittingbourne & Sheppey, Gordon Henderson, Young Founder & CEO of Swale Young People, Patrick Cantellow.
Our Young Ambassaodor’s, Demi, Heather, Ben, Michael and Hollie, did an excellent job of providing a young persons perspective, as well as working with me since September on the event. Without them it wouldn’t have been a valuable day.
I would also like to pass on my huge thanks to our sponsors including U+I, Brook Young People, Ideas Test, Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust and Community Learning & Skills. We should also not forget the support of Cllr Mike Baldock, Cllr Roger Truelove and Cllr George Samuel.
Throughout the day you really gave me some fantastic feedback on how we can make the next event better. I also want to thank you for all your kind emails. I’ve picked out some quotes.
“It really was a fantastic day and the panelists were superb”, Sarah, Fulston Manor
“It’s been a long while since I came away from an event with so much interesting stuff to think about, and feeling so encouraged. It was fantastic to hear from yourself and all the young people about what they’re passionate about. The whole day was run really well, the topics covered were fascinating and the discussions highlighted some really thought provoking and helpful; stuff, especially when it came from the young person’s point of view.” David, SATEDA
I’m sure this is the beginning of many more events.
